The Union County Public Health Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program provides free breast and cervical cancer screening and follow up services for women who meet the financial qualifications set by the State of North Carolina.

To be considered for eligibility, you must be a women aged 21-65 who lives in Union or Anson County and:

  • Has a household income at or below 250% of the federal poverty level
  • Is uninsured or underinsured
  • Is without Medicare part B or Medicaid


Recommended Screenings for Women

A clinical breast exam is a physical exam of the breasts performed by a medical provider.

A clinical breast exam is recommended:

  • Age 21-39 years - every three years
  • Age 40 years and older - every year
