It Was Written In the Stars, A Night to Remember: Adoption Month Celebration

On Nov. 3, 2023, Union County Social Services hosted a heartwarming celebration at the Agricultural Center in honor of the families who opened their hearts and homes to numerous foster children this year. More than 80 people gathered for an evening filled with joy, togetherness, and laughter. Families enjoyed a night of celebration and celebrated their foster and adoption journeys. Children enjoyed video games, board games, and other activities, while parents relished and enjoyed dinner and music. It was a night that marked the adoption of 25 children into the hearts of their forever families.

"National Adoption Month reminds us of the incredible strength and love that our foster and adoptive families bring to our community," said Valerie White, Senior Social Work Supervisor. "It's a testament to the power of family bonds and the hope we share for every child's future."

Fostering Safe and Stable Families: A Lifelong Promise

The path to adoption and fostering is marked with challenges, triumphs and an unwavering commitment to children in need. Becoming a foster parent is a big decision. It means providing a safe and loving home for children who are going through difficult times with their families.

Union County Social Services helps find safe and loving homes for children. They play an important part in this process and with the goal of reuniting families back together. They recruit, assess, and license foster families who extend love and stability. Another crucial facet of Union County Social Services' mission is Adoption Services. This branch assesses, selects and facilitates legal adoptions for children in foster care when reunification is not possible.

Union County's celebration of National Adoption Month honors the dedication of foster and adoptive families who transform lives.
